Start warming up your voice. Season 10 of American Idol is kicking off July 17th in Nashville, Tennessee.
For the first time in the history of the show 15 year olds will be eligible to audition. That’s probably due to the exit of Simon Cowell, who had often said he thought it was a mistake for any reality show to include young kids (tell that to 15-year-old singing sensation Justin Bieber).
Nonetheless, they’re allowed in now, which actually could shake up the show. It’s no secret the ratings have suffered since Paula Abdul left. Maybe a few yungins’ will bring the runaway fans back.
The rest of the age specifications remain the same. No one over 28 years old can audition and all contestants must be legally able to work in the U.S.
Wristbands will be distributed from approximately 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 15th until 8:00 a.m. approximate on Saturday, July 17th. Find a place to stay! YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO CAMP OUT. Once you receive your wristband you will be asked to return to the Bridgestone Arena by 5:00 a.m. (ouch) on that Saturday, July 17th.
The rest of the cities are as follows:
Milwaukee, WI, Wednesday, July 21st - Bradley Center
New Orleans, LA, Monday, July 26 - TBA
East Rutherford, NJ, Tuesday, Aug. 3 - IZOD Center
Austin, TX, Wednesday, Aug. 11 - Frank Erwin Center
San Francisco, CA, Thursday, Aug. 19 - AT&T Park
