Kathy Griffin pretty much takes no prisoners when it comes to her comedy. That’s obvious watching just one episode of her reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.
However, she also knows how specific her sense of humor is to English speaking countries.
“The language barrier is key,” she acknowledges.
But, Griffin is equally certain her jokes wouldn’t play as well in places that don’t have an understanding of pop-culture.
“They don’t all know about Paula Abdul around the world,” she laughs. “We don’t all have the same celebrities, although I think Paula Abdul should be recognized as American royalty.”
Griffin is convinced she’s shinning a light on injustices in America, too. She believes she’s seen small victories pointing a finger at the “don’t ask, don’t tell,” policy regarding gay soldiers in the military and has had notable guests highlighting her efforts on the show.
“That’s the type of thing I never thought I’d get to do on my silly little comedy show,” Griffin says.
