Who sucked the energy out of Mary Murphy? The ballroom dancer will be choreographing and occasionally appearing as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance this season rather than sitting on the judge’s panel every week.

So, for Thursday night’s episode, it was kind of surprising to see a more subdued Murphy show up for the first time this season. She was helping choose the best of the dancers who were sent to Las Vegas based on their auditions.

No Hot Tamale Train, no screaming, just Murphy seriously offering her thumbs up, thumbs down vote for who would make the cut.

It’s a change up for sure – a realistic view of the audition process. But are fans ready to let go of Murphy’s hyperactive energy? Was she told to tone it down? Which Mary Murphy do you prefer?
