Super-trainer, Bob Harper is reflecting on the highs and lows heading into The Biggest Loser finale tonight.

This has been one of the most emotionally-charged seasons of the reality show quite simply because the contestants were the heaviest ever to participate. And that often took its toll on them emotionally.

Particularly Michael, who began his journey weighing in at over 500 – and who had a meltdown realizing that even after shedding 200-plus pounds he was still super-obese. It took Harper a while to talk Michael down and help him realize just how much he’s accomplished.

“That’s the part of my job I love,” Harper tells HollywoodOutbreak.com. “When Michael hit that boiling point…here he is in a gym, he’s lost all this weight, he’s still morbidly obese, looking at everyone around him and he’s just like, ‘Look at me! I’m at a weight where people start on this show and here I am at the end.’ ”

By the time the trainer finished his pep-talk Michael headed back into the gym to restart his workout.

But, the other unforgettable moment was when the contestants had to carry their lost weight in the way of pounds over a trail. Michael, of course, was hit hard having lost the most to date. It was rough, but rather then letting him sweat it out alone, fellow finalist Ashley helped Michael drag the bag throughout the course.

“They had a really good friendship,” Harper begins. “I love that Ashley. I’m so glad she made it into the finals. This was a girl we didn’t think was going to make it past the first week and now she’s transformed. She’s beautiful on the inside and out. For her to be able to help Michael with that challenge…it was just so great to see.”

That sense of camaraderie is what Harper will take with him at the end. But, he’s already promising another great season next time out.

“It’s going to be a good one.”
