If they cancel the show, it'll be about 90% down to this little monkey's lack of appeal and 10% down to the ridiculous storylines. Not only has the show "jumped the shark", but grabbed said fish, kissed it on the mouth and taken it out to dinner! It used to be about loss, family, hurt, reconciliation, love. Now... ??! This season, the addition of that creepy looking son has made the show really hard for me to watch. The other frustrating thing about this show is how they would start a story line and then orphan it. For example, her half brother...the city under the city and the characters down there... And to me most frustrating of all was that almost every story line would be a "misunderstanding" that got resolved with Melinda overacting with those giant eyes and crocodile tears while the sappy soundtrack melodramatically rose to a ridiculous level. This past season was almost unwatchable for me. Medium is a FAR superior show with better writing and better acting. And one last thing I tired of was how Melinda and Jim were also sappy with each other and always eating a gourmet meal by candlelight. Ugggh. Again, the family dynamic in Medium was so much better, and you didnt have grouchy Camron Mannheim to have to deal with, lol. At the point when they killed off the husband for no good reason and he jumped into another dead guy's body and somehow lived, that's when it lost steam for us. Then when the kid was added and he aged from birth to school age in 30 seconds and when the series went from being cool ghost stories to depressing and outlandish tales, we almost stopped watching it...but we didn't. We loved this series and could not believe the changes they were making. Lastly, the ratings were significant in the beginning. The show averaged close to 10-million viewers every episode. Today, the series is average 6-plus million and though Medium was positioned to benefit from the Ghost Whisperer ratings, lately they have been neck and neck. And, there have been a couple of weeks when Medium actually exceeded Ghost Whisperer's numbers. Medium's characters never stopped being a realistic family, laughing, loving through their extraordinary circumstances. The characters on Ghost Whisperer, in the last year, hardly crack a smile. And for real families out there the joyless lives of these people is ridiculous and unrealistic. Anyone that miserable would have trouble facing each day. Sorry, but we stand by the post.
