Two and a Half Men fans and employees of CBS and Warner Bros. television can breathe a sigh of relief. Charlie Sheen has agreed to return to the hit comedy show next season. Sheen’s publicist confirmed his return by releasing this statement: “To put a fitting end on the two and one-half months of whirlwind speculation, I’m looking forward to returning to my CBS home on Monday nights. I want to thank (CBS Corp. President and CEO) Les Moonves for his support.”
CBS will be able to officially announce the good news at their upfronts on Wednesday, May 19th, 2010, when the network rolls out its 2010/2011 show lineup to advertisers.
Sheen reportedly was seeking $2 million an episode, which would be a record for a television star. Word is that he and Warner Bros. met somewhere in the middle. Neither the studio nor Sheen have released any information regarding the terms of Sheen’s contract, but rumors have it that he will be making a cool $1 million per episode. This is a nice raise from his $825,000 per episode salary.
Back in April while filming the season finale, Sheen insinuated that this season could possibly be his last, by saying “If tonight’s show is the end for me as Charlie Harper, so be it. Another journey has begun. I take from the experience 161 shows filled with a kaleidoscope of amazing experiences, memories, friendships and gratitude.”
We are happy Sheen is staying on board with the show and look forward to another funny season of Two and a Half Men.
