Lena Horne, the sexy, sultry singer/actress who was also the first black performer to be signed to a long-term contract with a major studio, has died.

She is probably best known for her version of Stormy Weather, but Horne has a list of notable accomplishments to her credit including a featured role as Glenda the Good in The Wiz as well as the musicals Thousands Cheer (1943), Broadway Rhythm (1944), Two Girls and a Sailor (1944), Ziegfeld Follies (1946), Words and Music (1948).

Horne died on Sunday (Mother’s Day) at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York her son Kevin Buckley announced.

Lena Horne was 92 years old.
