Barbara Walters announced today on her ABC daytime talk show, “The View”, that she will be having heart surgery to replace a faulty heart valve. She will be taking the rest of the summer off to recuperate.
Walters, who is now 80 years old, is one of the most iconic newscasters in the history of television. She made history by being the first woman to co-anchor the evening news for ABC with Harry Reasoner.
Walters also co-anchored the ABC News Magazine show “20/20″ with Hugh Downs, and has interviewed just about every major celebrity and many world leaders.
The expected recovery for Walter’s surgery is 1-3 months. We wish her a speedy recovery.
