The whole vibe and chemistry of the show changed after she left. And the addition of Ellen, who has no business being there, is only aggravating the problem. Plus, Simon's impending departure is casting a pall over this entire season. Right now, Idol is cracked, but when Simon goes, it will break completely. There is no possible way the show can survive without him. It's really sad that the ratings dropped for Idol Gives Back. I guess more people would rather watch washed-up and pseudo-celebrities doing the cha-cha then to support American Idol's charity show. The difference is it took 10 seasons for DWTS to become Number One, and it took Idol only one. Despite all the problems with this season of Idol, however, I am hoping it will reclaim the Number One spot now that Kate Gosselin has (thankfully) been voted off DWTS.
