So you’re fat. What are you going to do about it? If you’re a contestant on The Biggest Loser, you better prep yourself for an unforgiving diet and exercise plan.

Besides, Dr. Rob Huizenga tells HollywoodOutbreak.com, taking baby steps is just plain dumb and sets the dieter up for failure.

Huizenga ought to know, he’s the medical advisor on The Biggest Loser and he claims statistics are on his side - that weight-loss is more successful if it’s fast and furiously attained.

“I’m not sure the gradual processes have ever been shown to be successful in morbidly-obese individuals,” Huizenga says adding, “When you strive to lose two or three or five-percent of your weight, which helps you metabolically, we have found that that doesn’t seem to register in a patient’s eyes. They look at themselves in the mirror, they can’t see a difference and therefore they just instantly revert back to their previous lifestyle.”

In short, get off your butt, cut the calories and start moving. Brutal? Yes, but the results on The Biggest Loser speaks for itself and the contestants are examples of what can be accomplished in a short amount of time if you’re dedicated to changing your life.

The Biggest Loser airs Tuesdays, 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
