“For me it was like, ‘I’ll read the script, but I’m down no matter what.’ It’s SyFy, I’m all about it. Mega Piranha? OK.” That’s how singer/actress Tiffany decided to take part in the SyFy thriller, Mega Piranha.
Tiffany is an avid fan of the cable network and watches it regularly, so the idea of playing the person who causes the disaster was a no-brainer. There is “a lot of disaster going on,” she says. Tiffany stars as Sarah Monroe, a genetic professor who creates the mutant strain of gigantic piranha, “the size of a house,” Tiffany tells HollywoodOutbreak.com.
Sarah’s not intentionally the bad guy, but Tiffany points out that her tinkering just got out of hand, which often happens in these special SyFy event flicks. Her character spends a sizable portion of the pic just trying to get people to listen to her.
Not surprising, Tiffany is hosting her own viewing party tonight complete with barbecue. “It’s going to be awesome,” she says adding, “I’m having all my buddies come over and we’re having a cookout and we’re going to sit down and watch SyFy, which isn’t abnormal for me, but I happen to be in this movie. So, I’m really excited about it.”
Despite all the action and running around in the tropical paradise of Belize, which doubles for Venezuela, Tiffany never made it down south for shooting. Co-star Paul Logan, however, did and as military piranha hunter, Jason Fitch in Mega Piranha, Logan not only got to choreograph the fight scenes (his proficient in Martial Arts), he also had his work cut out for him fighting imaginary Piranhas.
That was one of the biggest challenges for Logan, who tells us that in one sequence in particular, he fought a humongous fish only to have it change dramatically into a vat of smaller piranha, thanks to the special effects lab.

Mega Piranha begins 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on SyFy.
