Though reports surfaced in February claiming that Christopher Meloni, who plays Elliot Stabler on the hit series Law & Order: SVU was ready to jump ship, the actor says that’s a bunch of hooey.

Meloni doesn’t blame anyone for the mistake, but confesses he could have structured his sentence better to the journalist who reported the story so that it was clear he still wanted to remain with the show.

Meloni confirmed to US magazine that his contract is up for renewal in a year - but if the show gets picked up for another season (which it hasn’t yet), he’d like to stick with the top-rated drama.

Considering it’s one of the most popular programs on NBC, it’s a good bet the series - and his job are safe.
