SONS OF TUCSON: Ron Snuffkin (Tyler Labine, second from L), a charming but wayward schemer, becomes a dad-for-hire when three brothers (L-R: Benjamin Stockham, Frank Dolce and Matthew Levy) find themselves in need of a father in the new comedy SONS OF TUCSON premiering Sunday, March 14 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2009 Fox Broadcasting Co. Matthew Levy isn’t from a small town, Chicago is anything but tiny, but starring on a national television show isn’t what he or his friends are used to. So, when he got the role as Brandon Gunderson on Sons of Tucson, Levy kept it to himself…for a while.
Levy just disappeared for a bit and returned after the shooting was complete. Now his buddies know why he was absent – and are all psyched up for their friend’s sitcom to fly in a big way.
But don’t think he just skipped school, Levy – like all underage actors (16 years old) – spent a portion of his day with an on-set teacher. He may be acting now, but he’s determined to finish his education. And that takes commitment – especially when the set is filled with toys designed to drive any dedicated student to distraction. Considering the show’s premise (three brothers who hire a faux dad after their father is tossed in prison), it’s understandable the set would be littered with toys.
Levy is acting now and having fun, but the ultimate goal is to work behind the lens. Still, he’s keeping his options and interests wide open, though he plans to take full advantage of the opportunities coming his way.
