For the 17th consecutive year, Mark Held from Mark’s Garden has provided the floral arrangements for the Governors Ball, the Oscar’s posh post-awards bash.

So, creating new designs while staying faithful to the party guidelines has been a challenge Held has faced repeatedly.

This year the theme is Streamline Modern. What does that mean? A perfect blend of 1930s chic with modern Los Angeles influences.

Wow, that’s a heady design description, but what that means for those of us playing at home - at least according to the designer - is 20,000-plus flowers filling the entire room with color and fragrance.

Click onto video for Mark Held’s inside scoop of the many volumes of flowers that will be on hand - as well as the pressures and challenges of creating that signature floral splash for this year’s Governors Ball.

The Oscars are awarded March 7th and will broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre beginning 5:00 p.m. PT, 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
