Eight seasons of 24 and still going strong. Who could have imagined it? Certainly not Kiefer Sutherland, who stars as heroic Jack Bauer on the TV suspense-thriller.

Fans, of course, knew as soon as the series hit the air. 24 became an instant success - due to its nonstop action, daring decisions concerning the content (torture can be fun) - and surprising outcomes for many of the characters - who got bumped off despite their acting contracts.

As Sutherland settles into his eighth year, he’s still amazed at how the production pulls off each season and how the show’s creator, Joel Surnow even had doubts it would last more than 24 hours.
