harrysdad, I, myself, recently had the pleasure of spending time with Temple Grandin. If you have ever been around anyone who has Autism you would immediately know that Temple is autistic. Aspergers is on the Autism Spectrum. this is no such thing as "typical autism" IF you have met one person with Autism, you have met ONE person with Autism. Meaning NOT ALL people with Autism are the same!!!
Temple herself had a HUGE part in the making of her movie, & the actress did a wonderful job of playing Temple & giving us an insight of what peopel with Autism go through on a daily basis.
to everyone else, Temple is a wonderful person with an awesome life story & she is very inspirational. If you EVER get the chance to hear her speak i would highly recommend it!!!

Bravo, Robin...you took the words right out of my mouth. HarrysDad, so good of you to diagnose a person who has already been dx'ed by many doctors. And the way that you disregard the message of the movie is appalling...Temple Grandin herself had a huge part in the making of this movie. She ensured the accuracy, so what's your beef?? I am the parent of a child w/ASD as well as a grad student who works with people with ASD. ANY child with ASD, given the ability to communicate, can show their talents to the world. Just b/c Temple overcame her communication difficulties and was able to do just that does NOT give you the right to brush off her story as a "misdiagnosis." Try to see the light in this movie, and let the viewers feel the HOPE and POSSIBILITY that comes from it!

Great movie, but once again Hollywood has shown they do not understand all sides of autism spectrum. They also aren't privy to the overdiagnosis of autism as shown on you tube video: autism spectrum seems out of control and the youtube video: autism epidemic out of control. Grandin is a very very very RARE case of severe aspergers, she isn't even autistic..she also has shizoid traits and savant qualities that are clearly not typical autism

This is aimed right at Anne-Marie Byrne. If you did any research on the two diagnoses then you would certainly know that Asperger's Syndrome (AS) and High-Functioning Autism (HFA) are NOT the same and that she was diagnosed correctly with autism. I have a soon to be 19 year old daughter who is like Temple Grandin in so many ways it's not funny and my daughter was diagnosed as HFA and not Asperger's Syndrome. So I would recommend that you do your research before posting comments about a wonderfully made movie, which I'm pretty sure Temple Grandin had a hand in making and would know what it is that she has, before posting comments calling the two the same and saying they should've said she had Asperger's. I'm personally offended by your comment. And in case you need further research here is an article to get you started: http://www.aspergersyndrome.com/html/research_paper.html

It was a wonderful movie but for all of us out there living and raising these incredibly bright, misunderstood children it would have helped if you had called her aspergers - aspergers is the high functioning autism and often endows the individual with exceptional intellect along with heightened senses and other autistic tendencies. The DSM wants to get rid of the word "aspergers" but for all of us parents who were so glad to be given a word/syndrome that explained and therefore enabled our children to get the help they needed in so many areas the film did not educate in the way I would have wanted. Great film, much more education is needed, there is terrible discrimination among educators, general public etc... regarding aspergers syndrome.

This is an extraordinary film that should be seen by anyone raising, working with, or caring about autistic children. It inspires us to seek new ways of helping these people achieve their maximum potential. Congratulations to all who worked on this prize worthy effort. A special bravo to Claire Danes for her perfection of this role.
