On this day in 1946, the SAMUEL GOLDWYN COMPANY released the grand-daddy of social commentary movies, THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES. Centering on three soldiers trying to readjust to society after serving in WWII, the film was nominated for nine Academy Awards and won seven.
