Don’t read too much into the delayed release date of Shutter Island. According to Producer Mike Medavoy, the extra time can be a huge benefit to a movie.
It was February of 1991 when his film, Silence of the Lambs finally made its way into theaters - though it was slated for an October of ‘90 release. That change certainly didn’t effect ticket sales…or the prestige. Silence of the Lambs went onto to win Best Picture, Director, Actor and Actress Academy Awards - four of the seven it received.
