Erin Karpluk may be known for Being Erica now, but it was James Cameron who gave her career a boost by hiring her for his sci-fi series Dark Angel. Cameron is racking up the awards for his newest blockbuster flick, Avatar, and is a shoe-in for an Academy Award nomination for both directing and the pic.

That’s no surprise to Karpluk, who saw firsthand how incredible the filmmaker is.
