On this day in 1987, ITC released one of film’s most relevatory odes to ‘family’ values with THE STEPFATHER. A wry thriller, this starred TERRY O’QUINN (LOST) as a man who marries widows with children in hopes of creating the ‘perfect family.’ When the new family disappoints, he kills them and moves on to another. THE STEPFATHER could have been just another low-budget slasher movie but for the brilliant performance by O’QUINN, who went on to re-create the character in sequels.
