The Tooth Fairy stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a hockey player who is sentenced to a week as the real tooth fairy for discouraging a young fan’s hopes. It’s a silly story – playing off the visual of Johnson dressed in tights. Still, it’s harmless fun with a stellar cast that should please families. The Tooth Fairy co-stars, Julie Andrews, Ashley Judd and Seth McFarland.
An out-of-the-way diner is the setting for an all-out biblical day of reckoning in Legion. God is angry so he sends a group of angels to bring on the apocalypse. This may be an overused story – but who can resist a horror flick with fun visuals - whether it’s a wall-climbing vicious grandma or a freaky, jaw-dropping ice cream vendor. It also doesn’t hurt that the cast – which includes, Dennis Quaid, Charles S. Dutton, Kate Walsh and Paul Bettany, take their work deadly serious amid mayhem.
Extraordinary Measures stars Brendan Fraser as John Crowley, a father trying to save his children who are suffering from a rare life-threatening disease and Harrison Ford as the researcher helping to find a cure. Extraordinary Measures is inspired by Crowley’s true story, but the execution of his interesting medical journey is more like a TV movie than big screen feature – despite strong performances from the actors.
