On this day in 1954, COLUMBIA PICTURES released IT SHOULD HAPPEN TO YOU. Directed by the legendary GEORGE CUKOR from a screenplay by GARSON KANIN, this story of a ‘nobody’ who becomes a ’somebody’ with the aid of a cynical agent and an outdoor billboard proved to be more prescient than its creators could have imagined (think ANGELYNE just a few decades later). The film starred JUDY HOLLIDAY, PETER LAWFORD, MICHAEL O’SHEA and “introducing” JACK LEMMON. Another reminder that JUDY HOLLIDAY didn’t make enough movies.
