COMMUNITY -- "Investigative Journalism" Episode 113 -- Pictured: Jack Black as Buddy -- NBC Photo: Harper Smith
Jack Black is guest starring on Community tonight as a guy who wants to be part of the study group.
Black made his mark in Hollywood as pedal-to-the-metal wacky, but Community star, Danny Pudi was surprised at how down to earth the actor really is.
Pudi met Black when he arrived on the set…alone…no handlers…and ready to go to work. Once he started on the job, however, the actor’s nonstop creativity machine took over…and Pudi had a front row seat for all the action.
Still, it’s not like Pudi hasn’t made his own mark on the sitcom. As Abed on Community, Pudi often has the best lines and reactions - and he’s fully aware of how rare an opportunity like Community comes along.
Community’s ratings haven’t been stellar but, quite frankly, all NBC programming has struggled throughout the entire season - especially since the prime-time experiment with The Jay Leno Show. Much has changed at the network in the last week. NBC has canceled Leno, tried to adjust late night to accommodate all three of their talk show comics (Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon) and now is working on filling that 10:00 p.m. hour with scripted TV. That’s a dynamic Pudi is looking forward to. He believes the madness could actually end up benefitting not only his series, but the network’s entire Thursday comedy block.
