On this day in 1962, WARNER BROTHERS PICTURES celebrated the New York City premiere of A MAJORITY OF ONE. Directed by MERVYN LeROY from the play LEONARD SPIGELGASS, this comedy of manners about the ‘friendship’ between a Brooklyn widow and a Japanese businessman was a well-intentioned tale of tolerance and kindness starring ROSALIND RUSSELL and ALEC GUINNESS. And while the film has a lot going for it, GUINNESS’ performance as the Asian is pretty distracting. A great supporting cast includes RAY DANTON, MADLYN RHUE, MAE QUESTAL and GARY VINSON.
