goldfingerOn this day in 1965, UNITED ARTISTS released GOLDFINGER. Directed by GUY HAMILTON and based on the bestselling novel by IAN FLEMING, this was the third in the “holy trinity” of JAMES BOND films (after DR. NO and FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE). Once again, SEAN CONNERY starred as AGENT 007 and the supporting cast included HONOR BLACKMAN (as the inimitable PUSSY GALORE), GERT FROBE, SHIRLEY EATON and HAROLD SAKATA (as the villainous ODD JOB). SHIRLEY BASSEY’S rendition of the titular theme song was an absolute knockout.
