Just like most viewers Simon Cowell is partial to those wacky audition shows on American Idol, but probably not for the same reason as the fans.
The average audience member loves the tryouts for the inexplicable level of denial some contestants exhibit, while Cowell believes it pulls the curtain back on an important part of the music business.
That means, according to the AI judge, often seeing the worst elements of the singers – even if they duke it out on-camera.
