Big-budgeted, event movies have been around forever. Just ask Sigourney Weaver, who has managed to be cast in a few of those gigantic productions like Aliens to her current flick Avatar (both helmed by James Cameron).

Still, Avatar is special to the actress. Weaver understands the hype surrounding the pic, but she also equates the popularity and anticipation from moviegoers with other inventive films from decades earlier.

Avatar took the top spot for the third weekend in a row. The pic has amassed earnings $352.1 million domestically in just 17 days. Estimates worldwide place Avatar in fourth position of all-time box office champs with 1.02 billion…that’s billion in revenue.
