Robert Downey, Jr. is all-American, but you’d never know watching his latest flick Sherlock Holmes or his previous starring role as Charlie Chaplin in the biopic Chaplin. To be sure he’s decidedly British in both films.
That’s exactly why Director Guy Ritchie knew Downey could handle Sherlock Holmes. The filmmaker understood his star would bring elements to the role that he hadn’t imagined and nail down the accent flawlessly – and Downey deliverd.

Robert Downey was a true Brit in the film Sherlock Holmes which is just a tip of his great talents! I saw greatest in this man when he did Charlie Chaplin. Mr. Downey will be remembered as a legend! Few actors have his range, his panache. No one is paying me to comment so this comes from the heart.
