On this day in 1974, WARNER BROTHERS PICTURES released McQ. Directed by JOHN STURGES from a script by LAWRENCE ROMAN, this story of a rogue cop out to avenge the death of his partner was a pretty good fit for star JOHN WAYNE. Audiences were ready to see WAYNE as something other than ‘cowboy’ and his tough cop up against crime and corruption was just what was needed. The supporting cast was none too shabby either with names such as EDDIE ALBERT, DIANA MULDAUR, COLLEEN DEWHURST, CLU GULAGER and DAVID HUDDLESTON.
