He’s known for his sharp tongue and merciless humor, but when it comes to friends, Howard Stern is not without a little humility.
The notorious radio show host spoke out about his ailing friend and comedic sidekick, Artie Lange, who was hospitalized over the weekend, E! Online reports.
Stern wouldn’t reveal why Lange had been hospitalized in New Jersey, saying that he was respecting his friend’s family’s request for privacy, but he did have some praise and kind words to offer.
“We all have our demons,” said Stern, referring to Lange’s past battles with addiction. “Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy. He’s a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don’t forget how great he is.”
Stern, who has hosted the controversial radio program, “The Howard Stern Show,” on Sirius XM radio since January 2006, also vehemently denied that Lange was quitting the show and being replaced by Jim Breuer.
The radio show host simply said the rumors were “absolutely false,” and added, “I don’t know where that comes from.”
Stern’s co-host Robin Quivers also heaped praise on Lange, saying “[He] is the most loving guy, always giving.”
Since Lange’s hospitalization, no further updates about his health status have been given.
