Will Smith wants to advance the career of his kid, he is the producer. And they are ruining a classic 80s movie. There is no reason to remake this one. The kid is not even a teen, he is pre teen. It should have been called Kung Fu Kid, they used the name karate to ride the wave of a classic movie. this is one movie remake that I like to see fail.

I agree with the change in title, this kid is too young and chan is too young too to play Mr. Miyagi. This was an awesome original film because it was about an older teenager that needed guidance and got it through Mr Miyagi, the things that made the original great are too mature for a child to play, it should also be around PG-13, to show that some sort fo Karate is actually done and there is real drama behind the Karate Kids character development. This is a tragedy in my book, I’m apologizing ahead for whom ever pays to watch this movie that actually thinks it is a re-make

karate is Japanese… damn ignorant film makers, just call it kung fu kid. then there would be absolutely nothing wrong with this. the only likeness’s between this and karate kid is the name and the Mr. miyagi type character. why try to implement a correlation that just isn’t there. this movie has good potential without the same name.

That movie should just not happen. Karate Kid sequels get worse and worse with the progressing numbers and making a fifth sequel won’t be any better. It should not even be called Karate Kid since it has nothing to do with karate. The thing takes place in freaking China! I don’t see how this could even be considered a remake since it has changed many things from the original movie. I hate seeing one of my favorite movies being stepped on.

When a classic 80’s movie involved heavy special effects, it’s usually worth being remade with today’s technology. Karate Kid shouldn’t have been remade. It’s perfect the way it is and because the original kids were older, the threat seemed much more severe. These are children so it looks more like a Nickelodeon take on the story.

I love watching Jackie Chan movies when they come out but this one will be a Netflix event for me.

Just saw the trailer on Saturday for the first time. I was interested up until the name came up. The question is WHY??? Not really a fresh take on the film if you have the same names…. the only difference is that it doesn’t take place in the States. But anyone who knows the original knows that this is just another remake. The only thing that is making me want to see it is Jakie Chan.

i just saw the trailer today for this movie and it looks great. if i would have heard about a remake, i also would ask “why?” but instead, the trailer shows a fresh take on the film and Jackie Chan is a perfect option to play Miyagi (will he have the same name seeing as he’s not Japanese).

i agree, it should be titled Kung Fu Kid instead.

same story line, but it is not a remake. I think it will be a good movie but instead of karate kid it should be kung fu kid cause that is what he is doing.
