On this day in 1947, M-G-M released THE MIGHTY McGURK. Directed by JOHN WATERS from a script by HARRY CLORK and GRANT GARRETT, this film is basically a retread of 1931’s THE CHAMP. Like that film, WALLACE BEERY stars in the titular role and plays a very similar character. Also in the cast are DEAN STOCKWELL, EDWARD ARNOLD, ALINE MacMAHON and CAMERON MITCHELL. This really isn’t a bad film and the fact that we’ve seen it all before just makes it, well….comfy.
