Think you know Sherlock Holmes? Well, Robert Downey, Jr. admits he sure didn’t before starring as the super sleuth in the updated movie Sherlock Holmes.

There have been more than a few critics who have slammed the flick for taking liberties with the characters of both Holmes and Dr. Watson, but Downey would disagree.

After researching heavily, the actor is convinced that the Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson we see on screen are more faithful to author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s original intentions.

Sherlock Holmes was a hit at the box office over the holiday weekend scoring $65.4 million. The film set a record on Christmas day with a whopping $24.9 million.
