JAMES CAMERON “AVATAR” – BIG MONEY, CRITICAL SUCCESS AND A VAT OF AWARD SEASON NODS

Not only is Avatar enjoying the one spot at box office for two weeks running, but it’s also racking up a sizable amount of nominations this awards season.

The movie has four Golden Globe and nine Broadcast Film Critics’ Association Awards nominations, including Best Director, which should put the flick and filmmaker James Cameron in line for the Academy Awards, too.

Cameron is grateful for all the praise being heaped on his baby considering he invested a number of years of his life giving birth to Avatar. He also knows it wasn’t a one-man show.  It took many skilled professionals to create the world of Pandora on screen.

Avatar grossed $75-million over the Christmas weekend, a miniscule three-percent drop from its first weekend out of $77.4 million.
