On this day in 1965, PARAMOUNT PICTURES released THE SLENDER THREAD. Directed by SYDNEY POLLACK from a screenplay by STERLING SILLIPHANT, this low budget, beat-the-clock thriller about a college volunteer at a crises hot line center getting a call from a suicide caller had audiences on the edge of their seats. The impressive cast includes SIDNEY POITIER, ANNE BANCROFT, TELLY SAVALAS, EDWARD ASNER and (get this) DABNEY COLEMAN. Still effective for those who remember the archaic technology.
