On this day in 1955, UNITED ARTISTS released THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM. Directed by OTTO PREMINGER from the scandalous novel by NELSON ALGREN, this gritty tale of drug addition and despair was harrowing. FRANK SINATRA starred in the titular role of a strung-out junkie dealing with a crippled wife and local mobsters.
