On this day in 1974, UNIVERSAL PICTURES released THE TOWERING INFERNO. Directed by IRWIN ALLEN and JOHN GUILLERMAN, this was one of the titles in what is considered the ‘golden age’ of disaster movies. The title pretty much sums up the film but the all-star cast list was pretty impressive by any standard. Just some of the names on screen are: PAUL NEWMAN, STEVE McQUEEN, WILLIAM HOLDEN, FAYE DUNAWAY, FRED ASTAIRE, RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN, JENNIFER JONES, ROBERT VAUGHN and ROBERT WAGNER. Great fun.
