Remembering the first PEE WEE’S PLAYHOUSE can be a bittersweet experience. In the original live production at the ROXY in Hollywood, the late PHIL HARTMAN played the character of Capt. Carl, the love interest of Miss Yvonne. HARTMAN was PAUL REUBENS’ (PEE WEE) fellow GROUNDLINGS alum, so we asked REUBENS if there would be a Capt. Carl replacement in the new production.
