On this day in 1990, WARNER BROTHERS PICTURES released THE ROOKIE. Directed by CLINT EASTWOOD from  a script by BOAZ YAKIN, this by-the-numbers crime drama didn’t really benefit by having EASTWOOD in the director’s chair. He stars as a veteran cop who gets stuck with a rookie in a criminal investigation. Also in the cast are CHARLIE SHEEN, RAUL JULIA, SONIA BRAGA, TOM SKERRITT and LARA FLYNN BOYLE. Not one of EASTWOOD’S better films but still worth watching.
