On this day in 1979, PARAMOUNT PICTURES released STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE. Directed by ROBERT WISE and based on the popular TV series, this was the first of many, many big-screen STAR TREK visitations. The cast featured all of the series faves (natch) and included WILLIAM SHATNER, LEONARD NIMOY, DeFOREST KELLY, JAMES DOOHAN, GEORGE TAKEI, MAJEL BARRETT, WALTER KOENIG, NICHELLE NICHOLS, PERSIS KHAMBATTA and STEPHEN COLLINS.
