Adam Shankman just keeps wowing us with his choices for the Academy Awards production team.  He just announced that five-time Oscar nominee, Marc Shaiman will be the musical director of the telecast.

Shankman and Shaiman have been best buds for over two decades and like to kid each other in a sweetly sadistic way…if that’s possible. But that’s not the reason Shaiman got the gig - well maybe just a little of the reason he was chosen.  Still, Shankman tells HollywoodOutbreak.com that they do share the same sense of humor, but he’s confident the composer will deliver in the more somber moments, too.

The Academy Awards are handed out live from the Kodak Theatre, March 7th and are broadcast on ABC.
