On this day in 1953, M-G-M released KISS ME KATE. Directed by GEORGE SIDNEY and based on the hit Broadway musical of the same name, this show had the distinction of cantaining some of the greatest songs COLE PORTER ever wrote (and that’s saying something).  A post-modern re-telling of SHAKESPEARE’S classic TAMING OF THE SHREW, the cast included KATHRYN GRAYSON, HOWARD KEEL, ANN MILLER, KEENAN WYNN, BOBBY VAN, JAMES WHITMORE, BOB FOSSE and CAROL HANEY. All this AND it’s in 3D! A great musical.
