On this day in 1965, UNIVERSAL PICTURES released THE WAR LORD. Directed by FRANKLIN J. SCHAFFNER from a script by JOHN COLLIER and MILLARD KAUFMAN, this medieval story of knights and castles hasn’t aged all that well and is pretty hard to take. But because of a memorable cast, the film features a few strong scenes. The formidable cast includes CHARLTON HESTON, RICHARD BOONE, ROSEMARY FORSYTHE, MAURICE EVANS, GUY STOCKWELL and JAMES FARENTINO. Only HESTON manages to make a meal of the scenery.
