On this day in 1974, UNIVERSAL PICTURES released EARTHQUAKE. Directed by MARK ROBSON from a script by (wait for it)…MARIO PUZO (!), this incredible mess of a disaster movie chronicles the events preceding and following a major California earthquake. Featuring an all-star cast and presenting it in something called ‘SenSurround’ did nothing to enhance it. There are those who say that critics of the film forget that CGI wasn’t the norm at the time….well, i was there on opening day and it sucked as much then as it does now. The ‘paycheck’ cast included CHARLTON HESTON, AVA GARDNER, GEORGE KENNEDY, LORNE GREENE, GENEVIEVE BUJOLD, RICHARD ROUNDTREE, MARJOE GORTNER, BARRY SULLIVAN, LLOYD NOLAN, VICTORIA PRINCIPAL, WALTER MATTHAU and GABE DELL (Whew!!!)…
