On this day in 1963, UNITED ARTISTS released McLINTOCK!. Directed by ANDREW V. McLAGLEN from an original screenplay by JAMES EDWARD GRANT, this rip-roarin’ comedy/western/romance is probably one of JOHN WAYNE’S best films. Produced under WAYNE’S BATJAC banner, THE DUKE managed to surround himself with pals he felt most comfortable with. The stellar cast included MAUREEN O’HARA, PATRICK WAYNE, STEFANIE POWERS, JACK KRUSCHEN, CHILL WILLS, YVONNE DeCARLO, JERRY VAN DYKE, EDGAR BUCHANAN, BRUCE CABOT and STROTHER MARTIN. Still a great film almost fifty years later.
