Think you know the everything about Coca-Cola? Well, listen up because ya probably don’t.
Sure, it’s an iconic, decidedly-American brand that’s been around for 100-plus years. But, making history takes work and cutting-edge marketing skills, which are being examined tonight on CNBC.
According to CNBC correspondent, Melissa Lee, 80-percent of Coke sales are from out of the U.S. market and the company is courting those Coke fans with clever advertising and packaging.
They’ve also learned from past mistakes (remember new Coke?) and have no intention of monkey-ing with the recipe ever again.
The special also goes into the deepest bowels of the bottling plant where the very first bottle of the soft-drink is still on display along with other historical memorabilia.
And Lee gets to the nitty-gritty of the cocaine that was rumored - and actually was one of the ingredients of Coke - until a public outcry ended that practice.
