The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has teamed up with MTVU for the second year running to give aspiring entertainment journalists the opportunity to cover the Academy Awards via the Oscar Correspondent Contest.
First rule: You must be a college student. The rest is up you.
How to enter:
Teams of two U.S. college students, one correspondent and one videographer, must create a video showcasing their broadcast journalism skills with an explanation as to why they should be chosen to represent the college community at the 82nd Academy Awards. Video entries may be submitted to mtvU.com from now through December 18th, 2009 and should be no more than two minutes in length.
The Academy and mtvU will select 10 contest entries that will be posted online at mtvU.com between January 20th and February 10th, 2010 for public voting. The three teams whose videos receive the most votes will be flown to Los Angeles to cover Academy Awards pre-events including:
After a final round of voting, the Grand Prize team will be revealed at an Academy press conference on Saturday, March 6th, 2010 - the day before the Oscar telecast. The winning team will get a place on the red carpet for the 82nd Academy Awards arrivals as well as credentials for access to backstage press rooms. The two finalist teams will receive bleacher seats along the red carpet and admission to an Oscar viewing party.
