TV Land, home to nearly every hit show from yesteryear, is making its way into the sitcom business with two new series for the network.
Pilots for Hot in Cleveland and Retired at 35 have been ordered by TV Land; their first entry into scripted television. The sitcoms are being developed for TV Land Prime, the networks prime-time programming block, which is designed to appeal to people in their 40s.
Hot in Cleveland is written by Emmy-award winner, Suzanne Martin, whose credits include Fraiser and Ellen. The show is being produced by Sean Hayes‘ Hazy Mills Production company (yes, that Sean Hayes…Will & Grace’s resident screwball). It follows three hot women in L.A. whose plane lands unexpectedly in Cleveland, which changes their lives.
Retired at 35 puts Chris Case (Reba, Spin City) in charge of the writing, while Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis (Rita Rocks, Reba, Titus) are the executive producers. Retired at 35 follows a successful New York businessman who chucks it all to move into his parents retirement home in an effort to reconnect with them.
No word on when TV Land expects to air the shows.
