The Box, director Richard Kelly’s (Donnie Darko, Southland Tales) latest take on the suburban nightmare, is based on the 1970 Richard Matheson story “Button, Button,” and it centers on a couple (Cameron Diaz, James Marsden) whose lives are tragically altered after receiving a mysterious box. Diaz, mainly known for her comedic work in such films as There’s Something About Mary and What Happens in Vegas, talks about the moral complexity behind the film, which opens nationwide this Friday.
