On this day in 1984, TC FILMS INTERNATIONAL released THE TIMES OF HARVEY MILK, a documentary focusing on the country’s first openly gay elected public official. MILK was assassinated while in office (along with San Francisco Mayor GEORGE MOSCONE) by DAN WHITE, a deranged co-worker. The doc went on to win an Academy Award and served, to large extent, as source material for the Academy Award winning docudrama MILK.
